COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS) UPDATE: In-line with the new government advice regarding the closure of educational establishments, we are sorry to announce that the pre-school will be closed from Thursday 19th March until further notice.
We hope to be back as soon as is deemed safe. Should you wish to discuss anything in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to get in touch, you can find our contact details in the footer of this page. Please keep safe, stay well and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Micheldever and Stratton Pre-school is based at the Village Hall in East Stratton and serves primarily the communities of East and West Stratton, Micheldever, Micheldever Station, Stoke Charity and surrounding areas. It has very strong links with the community in Micheldever and, in particular, with the village school.
Since September 2014 the pre-school has been accepting children from their 2nd birthday (see The Pre-school page for further information).
The pre-school follows the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (2017) and Early Years outcomes (September 2013) and believes that –
- every child matters and is an individual;
- the pre-school should be a safe and secure environment so that everyone in the setting can flourish;
- the pre-school environment should be stimulating and full of inspiration; and
- young children learn best through play based experiences.
‘It has a very welcoming feel to both parents and children’ (parents survey January 2018).
The deputy pre-school leader is currently training as a Forest School practitioner and the pre-school offers a regular weekly Forest School session as part of the continuous provision. Refer to the Outdoor learning page for more information.
The results of the most recent parent survey (January 2018) can be accessed via the Links page.
