We welcome children from two years. Funding is available for 2 year old children who meet specific criteria and further information is available through the pre-school, through the Hampshire website http://www.hants.gov.uk/eye or via their information line 0845 6035620. Government funding for 3 and 4 year old children becomes available from the beginning of the term after your child reaches the age of three.)
Although the majority of children leave us to enter school in the September following their fourth birthday, your child is welcome to stay with us, should you decide to delay their school entry. Please see the Hampshire website for details.
If you’d like to apply for your child to join Micheldever and Stratton Pre-school, then please complete the attached downloadable application form and forward it and your registration fee of £50 to the details shown on the form.
Priority for places and sessions is arranged on a first come, first serve basis. A place can be held for a maximum of one term. In the event that you feel you need to delay your child starting at the pre-school beyond this time, your place may be offered to the next person on the waiting list. It is very important that you keep the pre-school informed of any changes in your child’s proposed starting date.
What happens next?
We will contact you once we receive your application form and registration fee, and will review our staff and child ratios to see what sessions we can offer. We will always try to meet your requirements and preferences, but please appreciate that we sometimes need flexibility to ensure that we are able to meet our staff:child ratios for each session.
As the time approaches for your child to start with us, you and your child will be invited in for a visit. This will enable you to have a more detailed look around, meet your key person and complete any remaining paperwork. During this visit we will confirm the exact sessions your child will be attending.
We realize that for some children (and parents) starting pre-school can be an anxious time and we are keen to do everything possible to ensure you and your child are supported during this important transition. Our aim is to work with you to make this process as reassuring and comfortable as possible. Before your child starts we will discuss with you how you think we can work together to achieve this, and we will maintain close communication with you throughout the process. We recommend that when your child starts pre-school you stay with them for at least part of the first session to help them settle. Many children will not settle on their first visit so you may need to repeat this process on several occasions until your child is happy for you to leave. We might recommend shortening the length of the session for the first few weeks. Your key person will liaise with you and your child closely during this time, finding a routine which works best for everyone.
